What is Writer's Hook?

Writer's Hook is a one-day write-a-thon event that brings people together to write, create, and connect. Participants can set writing goals, take part in planned workshops and educational seminars, and enter a writing contest while connecting with fellow writers and authors.

When and where is Writer's Hook held?

It will take place on Sunday, November 8, 2026 at the Los Altos Hills Town Hall.

Who can participate in Writer's Hook?

Writer's Hook is open to young writers ages 13 to 18! Whether you're an experienced writer or just getting started with sharing your ideas, we would love for you to join us.

Is Writer's Hook free?

Yes! The event is completely free thanks to our generous sponsors. Food, swag, and prizes are all provided.

I'm not a writer. Can I still participate?

Absolutely! Writer's Hook is open to writers at every level, whether or not you think of yourself as one yet.

What if I've never participated in a workshop or writing program before?

That is not a problem at all! We will guide you through all activities — just bring your creativity and passion for writing, and we'll handle the rest.

What should I bring?

Please bring a notebook, a writing utensil, a laptop or tablet, and a water bottle.

Do I have to write for the entire event?

No! We have built-in breaks and scheduled activities so participants can rest, recharge, and socialize throughout the day.

What kinds of writing can I submit for the event?

We welcome all forms of creative writing, including prose, poetry, playwriting, songwriting, and more.

Do we have to bring our own food?

No, lunch will be provided for all attendees.

How are food allergies and dietary restrictions handled?

Please indicate any dietary needs on your registration form, and we will be happy to accommodate them.
